MetroWest Medical to implement wireless monitor system

MetroWest Medical Center says it will soon become the first hospital in the state to fully implement a new patient monitoring system that operates without wires or sensors placed on the body.

MetroWest Medical previously participated in a clinical trial of EarlySense's EverOn system, in which an electronic plate is slipped under the mattress to monitor vital signs and movement.

EarlySense, an Israeli company, has also announced it will open its American headquarters in Massachusetts, with 10 new jobs by the end of the year and then 10 to 20 more each year thereafter.

The company, which did not announce its specific destination, attributed the decision to a trade mission last month by Gov. Deval Patrick.
