“Specialty Surgeons Join MetroWest Physician Services”

Natick, MA – March 1, 2007 – MetroWest Medical Center’s CEO, Andrei Soran is pleased to announce the addition of two bariatric surgeons to MetroWest Physician Services, Sheldon Randall, MD and Khaled Yehia, MD.

Dr. Randall did his surgical internship and residency at an affiliate of Cornell Medical School at North Shore University Hospital in New York and a Harvard Research Fellowship in surgical nutrition/metabolism, critical care and bariatric surgery at BI Deaconess Hospital in Boston.  He was recruited from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital to start up the surgical program at Massachusetts General’s Weight Center.  Prior to leaving Mass General, Dr. Randall was an instructor in surgery at Harvard Medical School and currently remains an instructor at Tufts School of Medicine.  He also currently serves as the Director of the Surgical Weight Management Program at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.  He has written and lectured extensively on surgical weight management and nutrition.

Dr. Yehia did his surgical internship and residency in general surgery at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston.  He also did a vascular fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Hospital in New Jersey.  Dr. Yehia currently is on the surgical staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boston.

Together, Dr. Randall and Dr. Yehia have more than 30+ years combined experience. Dr. Randall is the busiest surgeon in the area and has probably done the most cases in Boston if not Massachusetts itself, with over 5,000 surgical procedures performed in the field.

“We are pleased to welcome such gifted surgeons to our excellent medical staff.  We look forward to working with them and utilizing the full range of services we already offer to build a center of excellence for weight management, which will primarily be housed in MetroWest Medical Center’s Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick,” says CEO Andrei Soran.
