The overall goals of the graduate medical education programs at MetroWest Medical Center are:
  • develop breadth and depth of medical knowledge
  • foster humane, considerate care of patient and patient's family
  • nourish residents' commitment and cognitive capacities
  • provide residents with increasing levels of responsibility, problem solving, decision making and teaching abilities
The institution operates its programs under the guidelines of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Message from the Program Director:
Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency of the MetroWest Medical Center Framingham Union Hospital.

We are proud of more than three decades of Graduate Medical Education at our institution. Our diverse group of residents and faculty are important members of our hospital family and our community. The small (24 residents) program allows maximum faculty/house staff interactions and an excellent evaluation system.

Residents enjoy caring for patients with a broad array of diseases in a "real-world" setting, as well as a healthy balance between patient care duties and education. Our graduates consistently obtain excellent positions in both primary care and fellowships; many have gone on to careers in academic medicine.

We are proud of the extensive learning opportunities we offer to residents and look forward to welcoming you to our program.

Sincerely,

Thomas Treadwell, M.D.
Internal Medicine Residency Program Director
