Statistics About Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Some people use statistical reports to try to figure out their chance of getting cancer. Or they use them to try to figure out their chance of being cured. Statistics show what happens with large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, statistics can't be used to know or predict what will happen to you.

These are some statistics for 2012 from the American Cancer Society about soft tissue sarcoma:

  • About 11,280 people in the U.S. will develop soft tissue sarcomas this year. Of these, approximately 6,110 will be males and 5,170 will be females.

  • About 3,900 people will die of soft tissue sarcomas this year (about 2,050 males and 1,850 females).
