Statistics About Uterine Sarcoma

Some people use statistics to try to figure out their chance of getting cancer or being cured of it. However, statistics only show what happens to large groups of people. Because no two people are alike, you cannot use statistics to predict what might happen to you.

These 2012 U.S. statistics are from the American Cancer Society:

  • This year about 47,130 women will be told they have uterine cancer. Most of those cases will be endometrial cancer. About 1,390 women will be told they have uterine sarcoma this year.

  • Uterine cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. Breast, lung, and colon cancer are the three most common cancers in women.

  • About 8,010 women will die of cancer of the uterus this year. This figure is for all types of uterine cancer combined, not just uterine sarcoma.
