Why Am I Being Referred To Diabetes Education?
Your physician has recommended you meet with a diabetes educator so you can learn to manage your diabetes. When you gain a greater knowledge and understanding of your condition, you can make lifestyle changes that could enhance your health. The diabetes educators will work with you to develop a program that will fit your lifestyle and meet your needs.
Why Can’t I Continue To See My Doctor?
The registered nurses and registered dietitians have the experience and the time to spend with you at each of your diabetes education appointments. They will work collaboratively with you and your physician to assist in managing your individual needs. The nurses and dietitians keep abreast of current standards of care and nutrition by acquiring continuing education and certifications in their field.
By working together with your physician, the diabetes educators can provide you with the specialized care, counseling and monitoring you need to minimize complications and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
