MetroWest Medical Center (MWMC) is a full service, 296 bed community teaching hospital system composed of Framingham Union Hospital and the Wellness Center in Framingham and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. Just 20 miles west of Boston, MWMC serves 400,000 people in 22 towns.
MetroWest Medical Center is committed to providing our patients with the most advanced treatments and access to leading edge clinical trials, close to home. Our involvement in clinical trials provides our patients with early access to new medications, vaccines and medical devices (including recombinant DNA studies).
Our goal in the Department of Research is to improve the quality of life of our patients. By offering opportunities to participate in local clinical trials patients do not have to travel long distances to major medical centers. We are especially sensitive to the needs of our patients who have come to our community from other parts of the world. We provide culturally specific services, including interpretation, in order to make it possible for patients to participate in clinical trial opportunities.
For the past five years, our Metro West Medical Center physicians and the Department of Research have been conducting clinical trials in collaboration with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as clinical research organizations. Our program is focused primarily on Phase II, III, and IV industry sponsored clinical trials.
Our Principal Investigators have extensive clinical trial experience and have conducted more than 60 clinical trials across multiple clinical disciplines including; Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Nephrology. MetroWest Medical Center is actively to expanding clinical trial services to all clinical disciplines. MetroWest Medical Center works closely with our academic affiliate Tufts Medical Center and is a member of the Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
