Child Development Unit
Child Development Unit, (CDU), Natick Campus
The CDU is a unique 12-bed, locked unit for children ages 3 to 17. Milieu treatment in a structured environment encourages the development of improved coping skills and new behavior choices. Children receive a psychopharmacological evaluation by a board certified child psychiatrist, as well as ongoing assessment by an experienced multidisciplinary staff who provide individual, group and family therapy. An on-site teacher provides tutoring, collaborating with outside treaters, agencies and schools. The Child Development Unit has a long-standing reputation as being a state wide leader on the prevention of restraint and seclusion by utilization of a strength-based program.
