Pelvic Floor Dysfunction & Incontinence Program
This new physical therapy program at the Wellness Center provides evaluation and treatment in the areas of women’s bladder health, specifically the pelvic floor. This would include the following diagnoses:
- Pelvic Floor muscle weakness
- Stress, Urge and Mixed urinary incontinence
- Coccydinia
- Pelvic pain including dyspareunia, vestibulitis, and vulvodynia
- Urogenital Prolapse
A thorough evaluation would include the assessment of spinal and pelvic mobility, muscle strength and functional status as well as an internal vaginal and/or rectal examination specific to the individual. We pride ourselves in looking at the whole patient. Typical physical therapy treatment might include the following:
- Manual therapy techniques such as massage, myofascial release and joint mobilization
- Pelvic floor strengthening exercises
- Ultrasound, Biofeedback and/or electrical stimulation
- Patient education/Home program
