Nov 26, 2024Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of Pancreatitis in 2025
MetroWest Medical Center announced today it has achieved a five-star rating for Treatment of Pancreatitis in 2025, according to new research released by Healthgrades, one of a leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. This achievement reflects MetroWest Medical Center’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible and places the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for treatment of pancreatitis nationwide.
“At MetroWest Medical Center, we are very proud of our organization’s commitment to high-quality specialty care,” says John Whitlock, Chief Executive Officer of MetroWest Medical Center. “It’s a special designation to be nationally-recognized for treatment of pancreatitis. This award is a testament to the incredible work that our gastroenterology team do every day to ensure safe, high-quality care and an outstanding experience for our patients we are privileged to serve.”
MetroWest Medical Center’s achievement is based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. As part of its 2025 hospital assessment, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to determine the top performers in specialty care. By offering easy access to objective performance measures, Healthgrades helps consumers find and select a hospital that excels in providing the care they need.
As variation in performance among hospitals continues to grow, it is increasingly important for
consumers to seek care at top-rated programs. Healthgrades’ 2025 analysis revealed that if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the 2021-2023 study period, on average, 224,958 lives could potentially have been saved and 141,692 complications could potentially have been avoided.*
“Healthgrades congratulates MetroWest Medical Center for being a national leader in treatment of pancreatitis and demonstrating a deep commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As health systems nationwide endeavor to elevate their quality of care, these elite facilities provide a roadmap for success. We commend MetroWest Medical Center for their dedication to excellence in patient care.”
