Helping Your Heart Grow Stronger
If you’ve experienced a heart attack, heart surgery or heart difficulties, cardiac rehabilitation at MetroWest Medical Center may be able to help. Our rehab specialists work with you to create a personalized rehabilitation program in order to improve your physical function, build your confidence in day-to-day activities and reduce your health risks.
We offer comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and wellness programs to promote improved cardiac health.
After you’ve been admitted for a heart attack or other cardiovascular services, our team of specialists work with you on risk factor modification and activity progression, so you can transition home more easily. We’ll provide you with educational materials on your diagnosis and support your recovery.
Cardiac rehabilitation is available for patients that have experienced heart attack, angioplasty or cardiac bypass surgery, as well as for some patients with angina, abnormal stress tests, cardiomyopathy, valve surgery and cardiac transplant.
Our cardiologists, dietitians, exercise specialists, registered nurses and social workers will work with you to improve your cardiac function, reduce your risk factors and begin to lead a healthier lifestyle.
An important aspect of our outpatient cardiac rehab program is exercise. We provide you with a customized exercise program, which usually requires two to three sessions per week for several weeks.
Cardiopulmonary Wellness Program
The Cardiopulmonary Wellness Program at The MetroWest YMCA in Framingham offers a medically supervised exercise/risk factor management program for individuals who are at risk for or have known cardiovascular and/or pulmonary disease. As a member of the YMCA, the program provides participants with a comprehensive exercise program to optimize functional status, enhance quality of life and manage cardiac risk factors. Exercise sessions are supervised by clinical exercise physiologists. The program runs 2 days per week and also offers education through one-on-one teaching/coaching and group educational lectures.
