At MetroWest Medical Center, we have taken significant steps to ensure we are protecting our patients, staff, and community from infection as we continue to closely monitor the outbreak of the novel (new) coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been adjusting
our actions as the situation evolves. We continue to work with the State Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and our local Infection Control & Prevention Team to respond to any potential COVID-19 cases that
may present at our hospital.
As individuals enter MetroWest Medical Center in areas such as emergency department or registration, hospital staff are asking screening questions including their recent travel and symptoms, including fever or respiratory symptoms (shortness of breath
Out of an abundance of caution, effective immediately, we are changing our visitation policy until further notice.
No visitors will be permitted in Inpatient Units or the Emergency Department except under special circumstances, which include:
Visitation of a patient near the end of life
One coach or partner for each mother in our Center for Women and Infants
One parent at a time for each baby in our Special Care Nursery
Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to visit inpatient units
Outpatient Units are also allowing no visitors, however one caregiver will be permitted to accompany a patient ONLY if required to support that patient’s mental & physical needs, which will be determined by staff on site.
Other updates include:
All outside groups and other events occurring at MetroWest Medical Center are canceled until further notice.
Everyone must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting the hospital.
Other special circumstances may apply requiring further restrictions.
Alternate patient visitation such as phone, Skype, Facebook, What’s App, etc. are encouraged.
These measures will be in effect until we are advised by the CDC or the State Department of Health that it is safe to return to normal visiting practices. We appreciate your support and understanding during this time.
