At MetroWest Medical Center, we offer behavioral health services that can help you or your loved one manage mental health issues, geriatric-related mental health needs or substance abuse problems. Our mental health services include:
- A full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors
- A partial hospital program to help patients transition from inpatient to outpatient care
- 24-hour access to emergency mental evaluation and substance abuse care
Comprehensive Behavioral Health Services
Our team of experienced specialists and staff works to provide unique, individualized care for every individual who comes to us. We offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors to help heal both the
mind and the body using flexible, patient-centered and culturally-sensitive care approaches to help ensure that your needs are met.
The behavioral health programs we offer include:
- Evaluation and Referral
Our psychiatric evaluation team, comprised of clinicians and substance abuse counselors, provides 24-hour access to emergency mental evaluation and substance-abuse care. - Child Development Unit
We have a 12-bed inpatient unit exclusively for children aged 3 to 17 with board-certified child psychiatrists located at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. - Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit
Our 28-bed unit at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick and 12-bed unit at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester provide short-term, intensive care for patients aged 16 and older. - Geriatric Neuropsychiatric Treatment
For senior patients, we have a 24-bed inpatient unit located at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. - Partial Hospital Program
MetroWest Medical Center offers a partial hospital program for patients who are transitioning from inpatient mental health care to outpatient. It can also be for emergency patients who do not pose any danger to
themselves or others, but may need a structured treatment plan and environment. The Partial Hospital Program covers psychoeducation, psychotherapy, individual/case management, medication management and aftercare planning. This program runs from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. virtually through the Zoom platform. - Intensive Outpatient Program
MetroWest Medical Center also offers an intensive outpatient program to help patients transition back to their previous lifestyle or independent living. This program runs every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Warning Signs of a Mental Health Issue
According to the American Psychiatric Association, having one or two of the following symptoms alone may indicate that a person needs to see a specialist:
- Apathy
- Changes in appetite (overeating or not eating at all)
- Decline in personal care
- Extreme mood changes
- Extreme feeling of fear or suspiciousness of others
- Feeling disconnected from oneself or from others
- Illogical thinking
- Increased sensitivity
- Odd or peculiar behavior
- Problems falling asleep
