Gynecologic Oncology

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is dedicated to the care of women with gynecologic cancers. The clinical program is comprehensive and incorporates all aspects of surgical and medical management, including:

  • Diagnosis
  • Surgery including radical and reconstructive procedures
  • Medical treatment including on-site chemotherapy
  • Complex benign gynecologic surgery
  • Laparoscopic and robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery
  • Consultation for women at risk for gynecologic cancer
  • Access to clinical trials and novel therapies

Our mission is to provide the highest level of comprehensive, individualized patient care. Our surgical expertise encompasses the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopy and robotic-assisted surgery. We strive to provide appropriate surgical treatment while at the same time minimizing pain and disability after surgery. We also offer medical therapy, which is often necessary in conjunction with surgery to achieve the most optimal outcomes. These treatments include all forms of chemotherapy, including intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Our staff work closely with a multidisciplinary group of physicians and nurses in order to come up with a treatment plan that best suits each individual patient.

Research is an important part of our program. For over twenty years, our Division has been a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), a national cooperative trials organization funded by the National Cancer Institute that is committed to advancing research in gynecologic cancer. Clinical trials sponsored by the GOG offer our patients the latest and most advanced innovations in surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, biologic therapy, and cancer prevention.

The Division provides on-site consultative and surgical services to MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. To make an appointment, please call 800-872-5473.
