MetroWest Medical Center’s Beautiful Beginnings Birth Center is a warm setting for mothers to welcome their babies, families, and visitors.  Our staff and physicians and their families choose Beautiful Beginnings to have their own babies. In addition to our bright, new décor, in-room showers, and queen sized sleep chairs, most rooms offer beautiful water views of Learned Pond, located right outside the hospital.  All of our rooms are private and provide a relaxing environment for you, your support person, and newborn.  If you choose to have visitors during your stay, you and your guests can enjoy the comfort of our welcoming family area.

The team of specialists in our birth center includes world-class perinatologists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, and neonatologists who also work at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, so you can be assured that you and your baby receive the best care and most advanced treatments right here, close to home.  Our facility is equipped with a Level IIB Special Care Nursery, for babies born with special health needs, such as prematurity, respiratory problems, congenital disorders, and newborn infections. Neonatologists and Pediatric Hospitalists work closely with Obstetricians and Perinatologists to assure all needed care is provided to every mother and newborn, whether low-risk or high-risk.

MetroWest Medical Center has received the Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction® Center for Maternity Care designation.  This designation recognizes hospitals that meet obstetric related quality goals, requires that hospitals practice evidence-based care, and requires hospitals to have initiated programs to promote successful breastfeeding. The program also evaluates hospitals on overall patient satisfaction, including a willingness to recommend the hospital to others.

Childbirth Classes

Childbirth education classes are offered at MetroWest Medical Center through Over the Moon Parenting. Classes offer education and support for parents, grandparents and loved ones welcoming a new baby. Click here to sign up for a class. Breastfeeding Support

Our staff of registered nurses is here to help you establish successful breastfeeding. Our team also consists of certified lactation consultants and lactation counselors should you need additional help.  We will provide you with a list of resources in the community that are available for lactation support after your delivery.

Quiet Hour

Beautiful Beginnings has established a quiet time on the unit from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm every day to allow time for much needed rest and privacy for both you and your baby. It will be your choice to have visitors during this time. The staff will only interrupt you to provide essential patient care.

Transitioning Home

At MetroWest Medical Center, we strive to help patients and families develop the skills and knowledge to help you and your newborn transition home seamlessly.  We will work with you and your family to answer all of your questions and make sure that you have the resources and information that you need once you leave the hospital.

Pediatric Care

Should your baby or child need pediatric care in the future, MetroWest Medical Center offers a wide range of pediatric health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age in a kid-friendly, family-centered environment.  Our experienced pediatric specialists work together to get your child back to health as soon as possible. We partner with Tufts Medical Center in order to bring advanced care to our Pediatric Specialty Center in Framingham. Specialists ranging from pediatric neurologists and gastroenterologists to pediatric oncologists and allergists are available to see your child for outpatient appointments.

Preparing for Your Delivery: Tours and More

Our team is here to help you get ready for the birth of your baby. We encourage you to take a tour of our wonderful birth center and preregister for your delivery.

Tours of the birth center are offered on the last Wednesday of every month, at 6:30 p.m. Expectant mothers and their families are welcome. Please meet us in the hospital lobby.

Pre-register for Your Delivery

Sharing information prior to your delivery will help us provide a smooth and efficient admission process. Please request a copy of our pre-registration form from your obstetrician. We look forward to meeting you!
